Our friends down in Texas are putting on a great cyclocross festival January 16 and 17 in Austin.  For anyone looking for some very competitive racing, big fields, and warmer racing, head on down.  Get the info below.

Sign up now for the Lone Star Cyclocross Festival and spend your MLK Weekend in sunny Austin, Texas. We have incredible deals from our host hotels, the Courtyard by Marriot Airport and Downtown, making this an affordable race vacation for your family or team.

Saturday features age-based categories and collegiate races presented by Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop, with skill categories and single speed on Sunday. Enjoy the Monday holiday seeing the sights, riding Lance’s roads and trails, or recovering from the legendary night life of the Live Music Capital of the World.

The Lone Star Cyclocross Festival is the Texas State Championships, the final race in the TXBRA Premier Cup, and the SCCC Collegiate Conference Championship, so expect great competition. We have a beautiful venue, featuring an enclosed lakeside pavilion with a pier from which you can see all the action. The course is a fun mix of fast paved and grass sections with a series of off-camber turns, a double sandpit, a short run up, and a thrilling 90 degree turn at the water’s edge.

Sign up now for a great weekend in Austin, and come enjoy our great weather, hospitality and racing.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Lock 4 for the Battle of Old Hickory!  The racing was great, the weather was cold, and the course was slippery........what more could you ask for?  We'll be having our final weekend of racing on January 23 and 24, 2010.  With that being the weekend before the State Championships in Johnson City, it'll be your last chance to tune up legs and lungs before doing battle in east TN.  Our last weekend will be in Champmansboro, which is not far from Pleasant View, which is not far from Nashville, so you need to plan on being there.  It's going to be at a private farm that seems to have been custom built for cyclocross.  We'll have plenty of parking, a great rolling course with a couple of hard, grinder climbs and/or run ups, a wet/muddy spot or two, and plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested.  This course will be completely on grass and will test all your handling skills.  We're also planning on having our music mix as usual (though updated by then), a keg full of frosty goodness, a grill full of burgers and hotdogs, and other edibles.  With this being our final weekend, we'll also be giving away LOTS of swag, not to mention a one-of-a-kind, handmade frame from Homegrown Bicycles!  We'll also have several other very nice items to give away, including four tool sets from Price Point.  We'll have our big give away on Sunday and you'll have to be there to win everything except the frame.  Check out the Cross The Way page for more info and the race flyer.

We are partnering with Ride for Reading for a book drive at the Lock 4 races on December 5 and 6.  Matthew will be there taking your generous book donations to help put books into the hands of kids that don't have them.  Don't miss this opportunity to start the giving season early.  Come on out to race at Lock 4 and bring some books.  Click on the logo at the right for more info.  We also have pre-registration open at BikeReg.  Click on our Cross The Way page for the registration link and race information.

The race flyer is up on the Cross The Way page for the December 5 and 6 races at Lock 4 in Gallatin on the peninsula.  This is gonna be one seriously exciting race course that will require you to make the most of your technical skills.  Expect LOTS of turns, off camber, a run up or two, several long grassy straights, and a super wide asphalt start/finish area.  We'll have music as well and maybe some fermented beverages for those of age.  This is gonna be one to remember, so don't miss out.

A HUGE thanks to everyone that came out and raced with us this weekend.  We had a fantastic time, and though course conditions were brutal, I think that made it all the more memorable.  Check the pics page for a link or two to some great pics from the weekend.  Also, check the updates to our Road Less Traveled page and to our Links page which has some great new stuff!!!

I hope everyone is ready for costume racing!  It looks like it may be a bit muddy on Saturday, so bring your mud tires if you gottem.  We'd like to welcome a new sponsor aboard, Nashville Holistic Pet.  NHP is a great store in Nashville on White Bridge Road and stocks everything you need for your pets, including lots of natural products.  Please visit them for your pet supplies.  See you Saturday!

We've secured Lock 4 for our December 5 and 6 races and no, we aren't using the mountain bike trails.  We'll stage the entire race on the peninsula.  You're gonna LOVE it!

A HUGE thanks to everyone that came out this weekend and raced, spectated, and volunteered their time to make a fantastic weekend of racing!  The City of Springfield/Springfield Parks and Recreation gave us a great park for cyclocross and the weather was perfect for cross.  Here's a link to this weekends results.  We'll have some pics up later in the week, so check back soon.

Looking ahead to our Halloween weekend races, I wanted to let you know that we will have a costume contest, so dress up and get ready to race.  More info on this race coming very soon!!!

We've just secured a title sponsor for the Cross The Way Cyclocross Series!!!  We have just inked the deal with MOAB in Murfreesboro as of today for title sponsorship.  Please stop by and thank Mark and all his fine folks for supporting cyclocross in middle Tennessee.  Thanks MOAB!!!

We're only 2 days away from our first race, so get your gear ready and come out to Springfield Saturday morning and be ready to go!  Price Point has also provided some special swag for all registered participants Saturday, so don't miss out.

It's finally here!!!  Our first weekend of racing is coming this weekend, October 3rd and 4th.  Everyone needs to come out to J. Travis Price Park in Springfield and be ready to stay for a few hours.  The weather forecast is calling for lows in the low-50s and highs around 70 degrees with plenty of sunshine.  What better to do on a beautiful fall day than race and watch cyclocross!?!?  A reminder that all registered participants, whether pre-registered or day of, will receive a very nice swag bag full of samples from many of our sponsors.  Day of registration opens at 8:30, so come on out.  Cash or check is fine.  Check back in tomorrow when I'll have the course map posted.

See you this weekend,
Brian

Thanks to everyone who came out to practice on Tuesday night.  We had our biggest practice session yet with plenty of newbies and lots of experienced  racers.  Good times and a great workout were had by all!

We also wanted to announce that as a registered racer at our events you'll be receiving a nice goody bag that contains LOTS of samples from many of our fantastic sponsors.  By racing at least once, you'll also be putting your name in the hat for our end of series drawing which will include a custom-made, hand-crafted frame from Nashville's own Homegrown Bicycles , as well as several very nice tool kits from Price Point and Sette amongst many other cool items.

Also, though we don't have their logo on our sponsor page just yet, we wanted to let you know that The Biker's Choice in Hendersonville, and in particular David Hardin the proprietor, is not only a sponsor of our series but is also working tirelessly to help us secure what is going to be one of our best race venues.  Please visit their site and their shop when you can.  Also check out their 6-hour race that's being held at Lock 4 on October 10th, cross bikes welcome.  No cross races that day and Lock 4 is the perfect singletrack for cross bikes!!!  That's where I'll be on the 10th.

Just to give everyone a heads up, Beat the Freak is happening in Fayetteville this weekend, the 26th and 27th.  Head down there and get a race under your belt before next weekend when we're having our first races in Springfield.

Practice this week will be at Cedar Hill Park in Madison.  When you enter the park, take the first left, then a quick right into the large parking lot where the big playground is and we'll be there.  5:30 until dark.  Come on out, this will be your last chance for a while!

September 16, 2009
Thanks to everyone that came out to practice last night.  The short course that we set up delivered some nice laps and I think everyone was good and tired by the end.  Next week we'll be back at Cedar Hill Park in Madison.  Stay tuned for more details to come.

September 15, 2009

Join us at West Park tonight for a cross practice that will include typical cross conditions - rain!  Unless it's coming down in buckets, we'll be there at 5:30 ready to go.  See you tonight!

September 13, 2009
Hello everyone,

We'll be at West Park this Tuesday, the 15th, starting around 5:30.  We'll practice until dark.  As always, if you're brand new to cyclocross, come on out and we'll get you up to speed so that you'll be doing laps with us by the end of practice.

West Park is located at 6105 Morrow Road.  Go to the Practice Sessions page for more info.

See you Tuesday night!

We are making BIG changes to our Series.  Last week the Nashville Parks Board denied all of our permits, despite the fact that Nashville Parks staff had been telling us since November 2008 that we'd get the permits with no problem.  Apparently the Nashville Parks Board is becoming increasingly weary of bicycles in Nashville Parks.  If you don't like it, I encourage you to contact the Mayor's Office to let them know how you feel at (615) 862-6000 or mayor@nashville.gov.  The Boards two reasons given were that we would obviously destroy the parks (due to the high impact of cyclocross bicycles) and that we would be "closing" the parks from Friday through Sunday.  Though I and the Parks staff explained that neither of these concerns were realized during the 2006 and 2007 races and that this year's races would be the same, they wouldn't listen and denied our permits.

However, we've been hard at work over the last week and have started securing venues that are going to be FAR better for cyclocross races than any of the Nashville Parks.  The first change is that our October 3rd and 4th races will now be held at J. Travis Price Park in Springfield, Tennessee.  It's 30 minutes from downtown Nashville and will offer a very smooth course with climbing, flat areas, rolling terrain, and obstacles.  We'll be updating the Cross The Way page and race flyer this weekend to reflect this change.

In the end, we believe the Nashville Parks Board may have done us a favor.  Several other venues that we are looking at are going to blow your socks off.  We'll also be opening registration this weekend, so stay tuned and get ready to race.

See you soon,
Brian
